Tentozan Utaki
A sacred site where Tenjukume Ryuguo Ongami (Amaterasu Omikami) is revered.
According to divine guidance preserved at Okinogu, Tentozan in Onoyama is the place of enshrinement connected to this principal deity. A commemorative stone was established on the old lunar date equivalent to March 23, 1957, and the shrine's spring grand festival is held annually on lunar March 23.
Tentozan Utaki, located behind Okinogu, overlooks the city of Naha and is known as a place where many worshippers sense a quiet sacred atmosphere.
Old stone monuments with Sanskrit characters also stand here. Although weathering has made full reading difficult, a 2012 historical field survey confirmed inscriptions including "Ku Chi Sui" and "Namu Amida Butsu," and identified these as among the oldest dated stone inscriptions in Okinawa using Japanese era notation.
